Apresentação da APCiR
A Associação Portuguesa de Cirurgia Robótica (APCiR) nasce num momento determinante para a cirurgia robótica em Portugal. Desde o início desta técnica no país, em 2010, o seu desenvolvimento foi condicionado pela tardia introdução do primeiro sistema robótico no Serviço Nacional de Saúde, apenas em 2019. Apesar disso, Portugal destacou-se pela realização de vários procedimentos pioneiros, incluindo o primeiro transplante hepático robótico na Europa, a descrição de uma nova técnica de prostatectomia e as primeiras cirurgias robóticas de obesidade e da parede abdominal da Península Ibérica.
Recentemente, o fim do monopólio mundial no mercado da cirurgia robótica e a aquisição de sistemas de diferentes marcas por hospitais públicos e privados têm vindo a impulsionar uma verdadeira revolução no país, neste campo. Este crescimento exponencial gera, também, necessidades formativas urgentes para os profissionais de saúde.

The Portuguese Association of Robotic Surgery (APCiR) was established at a pivotal moment for robotic surgery in Portugal. Since the introduction of this technology in the country in 2010, its development faced challenges due to the late installation of the first robotic system in the National Health Service, only in 2019. Despite this, Portugal has excelled with several groundbreaking procedures, including Europe’s first robotic liver transplant, the description of a new prostatectomy technique, and the first robotic surgeries for obesity and abdominal wall in the Iberian Peninsula.
Recently, the end of the global monopoly in the robotic surgery market and the acquisition of systems from various manufacturers by public and private hospitals have sparked a technological revolution. This rapid expansion also highlights the urgent need for specialized training for healthcare professionals.
In this context, APCiR emerges as a leading organization, bringing together all Portuguese surgeons with experience in robotic surgery. The association is committed to fostering education, technical development, and innovation in this field, positioning Portugal as a European leader in robotic surgery.
